Ever come across a word you don’t know in an article, an email, or some other document? There is now a very easy way to get definitions using the public computers at Rod Library.
A program called 1-Click from Answers.com has been installed on public computers at the library. When you see a word or name you don’t know, hold down the Alt key (keep it pressed down) and then click on the word you want to look up. Release the Alt key, and a small window will pop up with the definition or other information about the word or phrase.
If 1-Click does not work with a particular document format, click in the URL box at the top of the browser and type answers.com, a forward slash, and the word, as in this example: answers.com/ubiquitous. Pressing the Enter key will bring up the same information from Answers.com
Alt-Click your way to a better vocabulary!
