Assessment Task Force

The Rod Library Mission Statement: Rod Library provides access to rich information resources and innovative services in a vibrant learning environment that inspires members of the University and wider community to embrace challenge, engage in critical inquiry and creative thought, and contribute to society as responsible world citizens

The Library Assessment Task Force has been charged with fostering a culture of evidence-based practice and dedication to continuous improvement, initiate, promote and support library assessment efforts within Rod Library.

Specifically, to:

Develop expertise and understanding of assessment measures and techniques and share these with library staff as appropriate;
Identify user needs and assess Rod Library's efforts at meeting them;
Communicate assessment activities and results to appropriate individuals and groups;
Foster a culture of assessment within the library;
Provide support as needed for assessment efforts conducted by other library staff;
Develop a platform to share library data across the organization;
Maintain library assessment website

Goals for 2013 include:

  • Conduct a survey of current library assessments and develop a proposed process for collection and distribution of results and "closing the loop"
  • Conduct LibQual in spring 2013 and possibly experiment with other assessments
  • Develop a communication plan for LibQual 2013 results
  • Launch library assessment website
