ARTstor down for maintenance April 16

ARTstor will perform an upgrade to the ARTstor Digital Library on Tuesday, April 16 from 5:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.  During this time, users can access the Digital Library but may experience some slowness.  This upgrade will eliminate the need for Java in the ARTstor Digital Library and provide for downloading single images in Zip files.

ARTstor down for maintenance Jan. 26-27

ARTstor will perform an upgrade to its systems starting Saturday, January 26 at 10:00 PM CST and ending on Sunday, January 27 at 12:00 PM CST.  During this time, users will not have access to the ARTstor Digital Library.

Too warm AND stuffy!!

Feeling a bit warm on the east side (the side toward Maucker Union) of the library?  A bit stuffy, too?  Our fans on that side of the building need to get repaired.  A major part of the motor was sent to Cedar Rapids for repair; if they can't fix it, we'll have to order a new one.  We can't predict when it will get fixed unfortunately.

So please bear with us!  If necessary, move to the back of the building toward the Campanile where we still have fans working.

Text the call number!

Just found the right book but you don't have anything to write down the call number?  Not a problem anymore - just text it!

Watch the Vice-Presidential Debates at Rod Library!

Want to watch the Vice Presidential debates on Thursday, October 11? We'll stream them live at the library!!! Go to the open area behind the reference desk on the main floor. Look for the signs!!!

Win a Nook during Banned Book Week!

Help Rod Library celebrate Banned Book Week October 1-5.

Check out our lobby display on banned books and join our Banned Book read-out on Friday, October 5 outside the library.   Like us on Facebook - we will have a trivia contest this week for a Nook.  Use it to read banned books!

Winner of the Nook!

Winner of National Library Week's Trivia Contest!

Congratulations to Kelsey - the grand prize winner in the National Library Week Trivia contest. Enjoy your Nook!

Chronicle of Higher Education now ONLINE!!!

Rod Library has just started a site license to the electronic version of "The Chronicle of Higher Education."  Currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff can access this title from any computer on campus and, after authenticating with their CatID, from off-campus as well.

Trivia contest for a free Nook to run one more day - no thanks to Facebook!!!

Facebook decided to do site maintenance today and the Rod Library page (with trivia question #3) would show up, then disappear, show up, then disappear.  Frustrating!!!

Because of the problems with the site on Wednesday, we will run question 3 again on Thursday so you all have a chance to enter.  We'll put question 4 on Friday and question 5 on Monday, April 16.

We'll announce the winner on Friday, April 20!!!!!

Help celebrate National Library Week and win a Nook!

National Library Week is April 8-14.  To help celebrate, enter Rod Library's trivia contest on its Facebook page at

We'll post a question every day of National Library Week.  The person who correctly answers the most questions will win a Nook!  In the case of a tie, we will randomly select a winner.

(Unfortunately, Rod Library employees, including Library student assistants, cannot enter.)

Keep your eyes open!  You may also get a prize from the "Search Patrol" looking for signs of intelligent life on campus and when better than during National Library Week?
