Ready Player One - Common Read @ UNI

Join Cornerstone students in reading this year's common read book, Ready Player One, by Ernest Cline.

"It's the year 2044, and the real world is an ugly place.

Like most of humanity, Wade Watts escapes his grim surroundings by spending his waking hours jacked into the OASIS, a sprawling virtual utopica that lets you be anything you want to be, a place where you can live and play and fall in love on any of ten thousand planets.

And like most of humanity, Wade dreams of being the one to discover the ultimate lottery ticket that lies concealed within this virtual world. For somewhere inside this giant networked playground, OASIS creator James Holliday has hidden a series of fiendish puzzles that will yield massive fortune -- and remarkable power -- to whoever can unlock them... From"

The Book's author, Ernest Cline, is scheduled to visit UNI on October 21, 2014 and give a keynote at 8 p.m. in Lang Hall Auditorium (campus map).  A book signing is scheduled after the address.

Rod Library will  host Ernie Cline, author of "Ready Player One," this year's Common Read @ UNI, in Book Bistro for a Meet and Greet from 2 - 3:30 pm this Tuesday, October 21st.  Ernie is known for his DeLorean which is also depicted in the book.  We'll actually have a real-life DeLorean parked in the front of the library during the time of the event, owned by a DeLorean aficionado who lives in the area.

Rod Library has developed a Ready Player One LibGuide (online subject guide) to help Cornerstone students find related resources.
