Need a locker to store your belongings while you work on a group project or want to run over Maucker Union to eat a meal? Well, Rod Library now has them. Located on the first floor in the northeast corner is our newest seating unit ( and, yes, it looks like a spaceship) that includes lockers that you can have for 3 hours at a time. The lockers can also be renewed for an additional hour if there are other lockers available. Stop by the Multiservice Center desk to check out the key.
The Rod Library was pleased to host two students of the Waterloo George Washington Carver Academy as part of UNI's Educational Talent Search Job Shadowing Day on September 30, 2010. Eduardo and Andre spent the morning "shadowing" Gail Bunz, Library Associate, Multiservice Center. They assisted in checking in youth books, checking out laptops, scanning articles for interlibary loan, toured Technical Services to see how books are processed, viewed two books that were well over 400 years old in Special Collections/University Archives, and got an overall tour of the library. Eduardo said "I didn't know libraries could be so much fun!" and Andre was quite impressed with the historical books.
Have you seen the perfect image in a journal that you know will give your paper the "wow" factor, if you could only figure out a way to insert it? Well give it the “KIC” it needs with the Rod Library’s new Knowledge Imaging Center, located on the 1st floor next to the Photocopy Center. This walk-up scanning unit will scan in black & white and also in color. It will handle any size books as well as flat material from postage stamp size to 17 x 24 inches. Images can then be emailed or saved to a flash drive. Give it a try today!!
The long awaited charge to u-bill for photocopies is now available on all self-service photocopies in the Rod Library. Prices are $.10 per page for black/white copies and $.50 for color copies. Patron can still make copies with cash on the copiers on 1st and 2nd floor of the Library.
The library has a new Multipurpose Room available for groups or individuals affiliated with the university who need a presentation practice area or a larger space for group work. The room is located on the 3rd floor and has a computer with all Microsoft Office products, a projector and a stereo receiver with speakers. The room has 12 tables and will seat 30.
The room can be booked or reserved in advance for up to a 3 hour session. If the room is not booked it is available on demand for a 2 hour check out with one 1 hour renewal option. Please note that the online booking form requires a 24 hour processing period. If immediate booking is needed please call the Circulation desk at 273-2462.
