Recommending Library Materials for
Purchase
Rod Library seeks to provide access
to resources which will meet the instructional, research, and informational
needs of the University community. It welcomes recommendations for
additions to the Library's collections or for the provision of access to remote
electronic resources from University faculty, staff, and students and from
members of the public. Anonymous recommendations are accepted.
All recommendations are
reviewed within the Collection Management and Special Services
Department. Not all resources which are recommended for purchase or
license can be acquired. Incoming recommendations are reviewed to
determine that sufficient information is available to identify and evaluate the
title or resource in question. All recommendations for items not already in the
collection, on order, or accessible under subscription or site license are
routed to the appropriate subject bibliographer for consideration.
Purchase decisions are made in keeping with established collection management
policies, the availability of funds, and technical and licensing
considerations.
