Items for Reserve Faculty members who wish to place materials on reserve for use by students enrolled in courses for which they are serving as the instructor should contact the Reserve Desk at the MultiServices Center. If the items normally are located in the Art & Music Collection, the staff in that unit should be contacted. Stacks titles related to art or to music may be placed on reserve in either location. Library staff will determine whether the materials are available in the Librarys collections, and whether, under current copyright law, they may be made available for reserve use. If a book, video, or other item which a faculty member wants placed on reserve is not available in the Librarys collections, the staff will forward the request to the Collection Management & Special Services Department. Department staff will verify availability and cost, and route the request to the appropriate subject bibliographer for review. Single copies of items wanted for reserve use are ordered whenever funds permit. Multiple copies may be ordered when course enrollments warrant and funds permit. Faculty also may place personal copies on reserve, when their use is permissible under copyright law. Additional information about Library reserve policies is available at http://www.library.edu/msc/reserve/facnfo.shtml The Reserve Request form and a set of Copyright Guidelines for Reserve Items in the Rod Library are available at http://www.library.uni.edu/reserverequest.htm October 1999 |
