Campanile Committee Records

Archives Record Series: 08/04/02

Campanile Committee Records. .5 linear foot.

The Campanile Committee was responsible for leading fundraising efforts to build the Campanile.  The committee also had some responsibilities for Campanile upkeep and improvement after it was built.

Among the most important documents in this series are the Fasoldt correspondence and the letter from James Owen Perrine.  In the Fasoldt correspondence, Dudley Fasoldt writes at length about the Fasoldt clock mechanism that was originally mounted in the Campanile.  J. O. Perrine, in his 1946 letter to I. H. Hart, writes about what he believed to be his pivotal role in the acquisition of the clock mechanism.

There are also important exchanges of correspondence between Teachers College officials and the architects of Proudfoot, Bird, and Rawson on the design and construction of the Campanile.
