Edward F. Wagner, (1929-2008). Papers, (1946-1994). .5 linear feet.
Edward Ferdinand Wagner was born and raised in Menomonie, Wisconsin. He received his academic training at the University of Wisconsin in Madison and the University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire. He served in the United States Army in Germany. Following military service, he taught at Viroqua (Wisconsin) High School for a year. He joined the library staff of the Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa) as a reference librarian in 1958. He served in that capacity, with special responsibilites for Documents, Archives, and Interlibrary Loan at various times during his career, until his retirement in 1994.
Mr. Wagner collected books for many years. He was most interested in nineteenth and twentieth century botanical material, Midwest history, modern fine press publications, and modern world history. Follwing Mr. Wagner's death, his estate administrators allowed Rod Library staff members Katherine Martin and Gerald Peterson to select books and papers from Mr. Wagner's house. The collection of papers was quite limited, but many books were subsequently added to the Rod Library.
The retirement party photographs offer a good look at Rod Library staff members in 1994.
