Executive Assistant to the President

Shortly after Constantine Curris arrived at UNI to assume his duties as President, he appointed a Murray State University colleague, Richard H. Stinchfield, to be Director of a new Planning and Policy Management office.  Later Mr. Stinchfield was named Executive Assistant to the President.  Mr. Stinchfield's specific assignments varied over the years, but he was usually concerned with issues that were especially important to President Curris, such as enrollment.  Consequently, the files on admissions and on the enrollment cap are especially strong.

The President's Office staff sent the papers in this series in two major shipments. The first shipment included material that tends to deal with broad planning issues.  It includes a relatively broad chronological period.  It was not especially well-organized, and is not yet ready for public use.  The second shipment, in Boxes 1-4, is limited in scope and chronological coverage.  This shipment tends to cover 1985-1988.  It was well-organized along a pattern that mirrored the university's administrative organization chart, with a folder for each significant office or department on campus.

Container Inventory

Note: Boxes 1-4 consist of folders arranged by campus office or department. The quantity of the contents of the folders varies from as little as a single descriptive pamphlet to as much as several inches of correspondence, memos, reports, and other publications. Some correspondence is directly to or from Mr. Stinchfield; other correspondence consists of copies of letters between other people. The larger files tend to relate to offices in which Richard Stinchfield and President Curris took a special interest, most notably admissions, enrollment, and Broadcast Services.
