Iowa State Normal School Pamphlets in Civics
Archives Record Series: 02/00/23
Iowa State Normal School Pamphlets in Civics, 1891. .1 linear foot.
Collection
This collection consists of a single, twenty-page pamphlet, dated December 5, 1891, and noted as issue no. 1. No other issues in this series are known. This issue includes texts of early constitutions in the United States, including: the Mayflower Compact; the constitution of the United Colonies of New England; and Penn's Briefe and Plaine Scheam. It also includes declarations of rights including statements by: the congress of 1765, the congress of 1774, and the Virginia convention of May 1776. It is likely that this pamphlet was put together by President Homer Seerley and Professor Leonard Parish, possibly as a precursor to their book, History and Civil Government of Iowa (1897).
The pamphlet came to the University Archives as a gift in about 2002.
