Professional Development Leave Files, 1987-1997
The Professional Development Leave program, later called the Professional Development Assignment program, allows UNI faculty to be relieved from teaching responsibilities for one or two semesters while they conduct research projects.
These files contain the applications, with certain related correspondence, of those faculty who were awarded PDLs. These applications spell out in some detail what the faculty member intended to do with his or her leave. Unsuccessful applications are not present.
The files are arranged by academic year, from 1987-1988 through 1996-1997. Within each academic year, the files are arranged alphabetically by applicant.
David Walker, Associate Dean of the Graduate College, brought these files to Rod Library Special Collections in August 2005. There are no restrictions on access to this material.
Finding aid prepared by Gerald L. Peterson, University Archivist, August 2005.
