Siberius Y. Saito Sketches Papers

Manuscript Record Series: MsC-13

Siberius Y. Saito (1908-1980). Sketches, (1942). 2 linear feet.

Papers:

These papers consist of photographs of twenty-four sketches made by Siberius Y. Saito during his internment in 1942 at Tanforan Assembly Center near San Francisco. The sketches show barracks, mess halls, medical facilities, public areas, and general views of the Assembly Center where Japanese-Americans were held before they were assigned to other internment camps. Mr. Saito donated the photographs to the UNI Archives on March 20, 1979. He sent other copies to UCLA, Stanford, and the Hoover Institute.

Library faculty member Fred Ma presented a program from Mr. Saito's memorial service to the UNI Archives. The drawing on the front page is a reprint of Mr. Saito's last drawing before his death.
