With great regret, I write to inform you of the death of Mr. Milo L. Lawton, Director of Alumni Affairs. Mr. Lawton passed away on Thursday morning, May 6, following a heart attack, suffered while at work.
Mr. Lawton was born at Hawarden, Iowa, in 1915. He received the B.A. degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1937 and the M.A. degree from the University of Iowa in 1959. Prior to joining the staff at University of Northern Iowa in 1953 as Director of Alumni Affairs, Mr. Lawton had taught English and Speech in the public high schools of Scranton and Maquoketa, had been associated with the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company and the Tri-City Radio Supply Company, and had served as an officer in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

The Nelson-Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, at the College Hill Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. The flag will be flown at half-mast, and the Campanile bells will be played during the time of the funeral service in memory of Mr. Lawton.
The family has suggested that, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to make contributions to a memorial make them to the University of Northern Iowa Foundation or to the College Hill Lutheran Church.
The university extends condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Lawton, particularly to Mrs. Lawton.
