CAN I LEGALLY PHOTOCOPY A WORK I BOUGHT WHICH IS NOW MY PERSONAL COPY?

No. The purchaser of a work owns only that particular copy of the work and may lend or resell that copy under the first sale doctrine. However, the purchaser does not own any rights to the copyright covering the contents of the purchased copy. Therefore, the purchaser cannot copy the purchased work, in whole or in part, without the copyright owner's permission unless such copying constitutes fair use.
