Alerts and RSS Feeds
Academic OneFile
Perform a search for the topic of your choice. In results screen, click on the
icon to set a feed up for this topic.
ACM Digital Library
Follow the link at the top of the page and register (free). Create an ACM Web Account. Once your account has been created you may click on TOC Service on the ACM search page.
ACS Publications (American Chemical Society)
RSS feeds to ACS journals may be established by going to http://pubs.acs.org/action/showJournals?type=RSS and copying the RSS url for the desired journal and pasting it into your RSS reader. Email alerts may be set up at http://pubs.acs.org/action/showPreferences?menuTab=Alerts. Users have a choice between ASAP (As Soon As Published) alerts and TOC (Table of Contents) alerts.
Cambridge Journals Online
To establish
RSS or
feeds to Cambridge journals, go to http://journals.cambridge.org/action/byFeeds. You may then click on a title. You will be asked to register for services. You will then be able to sign up for email and RSS feed alerts as well as save searches and book marks.
EBSCO Databases
To create RSS feed alerts, perform a search. On the results screen, click on the
icon in the upper left corner of the results screen to set a feed up for this topic. Alerts may be set up by clicking on the Alert/Save/Share link in the upper right corner of the results screen. How to Create Search & Journal Alerts (requires Flash

ERIC (USDE)
Click on the icon
on any of the areas of the U.S. Department of Education or on one of the educational topics listed. You may also click on the icon
in a search results screen to get feeds on the topic you entered.
General OneFile - Gale (InfoTrac)
Perform a search using the desired words. When the results screen comes up, click on
Create a Search Alert. You then have the option of signing up for email alerts or RSS feed alerts. You may also set up alerts for journals by clicking on the Publication Search link at the top of the page, searching for the desired journal title and then setting up the alert by clicking on
Create a Journal Alert.

Users may request journal alerts and RSS feeds by clicking on the Journals button at the top of the page and then making a selection in the left column. To create alerts for journals by subject area, click on Journals, click on Request Journal Alerts from the left menu and then enter your email address Next, click on Make or Change Selections. You may then click on Save and Go to Subjects to select a subject areas on which to receive alerts.
ProQuest (select a ProQuest database)
Perform a search for the topic of your choice. In results screen, click on the
icon to set a feed up for this topic.
Email alerts may be established for this topic by clicking on the
icon at the top of the results screen.
RSS Feeds for individual journals may be created by clicking on the Publications tab and then on the Create RSS Feed button at the end of the desired journal title. Alerts may also be set up by clicking on View Details after the title and then on the
button.
Sage Journals Online
Perform a search in this database and refine it until you are receiving the desired results. Next, click on the Search History tab at the top. After selecting the search you wish to save, click on Save as Alert.
SciVerse ScienceDirect
Users may save searches, create search alerts, journal issue alerts, citation alerts, and create a favorite journal list which can be browsed and searched. First, click on Alerts and register. You may set up an alert by performing a search and then selecting Save as Search Alert. You may also create topic alerts by clicking on the Alerts button at the top and then Add/Delete Topic Alert. Volume and issue alerts may be set up by selecting Add/Remove Volume/Issue Alerts on the Alerts page. Citation alerts may be created by selecting Citation Alert while the document is being displayed. You may also set up a list or RSS feeds to your favorite journals by clicking on Manage Favorites after signing in.
SciFinder Scholar
SpringerLink (formerly Kluwer)
Faculty may register for features such as Table Of Contents Alerts, Keyword Alerts, and Favorites (journals). After clicking on SpringerLink above, click on Register in the left column. After registering, you may set up your Alerts and Favorites.

The databases mentioned in this tutorial may differ from the databases offered by Rod Library.
Click on the My Citation Alerts button at the top of the Web of Knowledge search page to sign up for alerts.
Wiley InterScience
To establish
RSS feeds to Wiley InterScience journals, go to the page for your desired journal and click on the
icon. You may then click on Subscribe to this feed.
