E-Journals

Listed below are e-journals licensed or owned by Rod Library in the areas of tourism and leisure. Some of the e-journals are through a publisher's database and some are through an aggregator (third party vendor).  In most cases, you can browse the electronic journal as you would the print journal. You can often conduct a search for articles within the publication. Rod Library has access to journals in a variety of formats. To identify whether or not Rod Library has a journal in print or electronic format, conduct a Journal Title search in UNISTAR using the name of the journal. To access additional full-text journals licensed by Rod Library, view the online journal by subject list.

Information concerning tourism can be found in a number of scholarly and popular journals and magazines. The following Rod Library databases are most useful in finding journal articles in this field of study. Many Rod Library electronic resources contain the complete articles. Select the desired database  from the Databases A-Z listing under Articles tab on the Rod Library home page.  The “*” symbol located next to the database name in the list below designates that the database contains at least some full text articles.

Academic OneFile covers a wide range of subjects, including recreation and leisure services.  Many articles are available full text within the database. Click on the Find it linker to determine if Rod Library has full access to the article in electronic or print formats or if Rod Library has NO access to the article.

SPORT Discus

Indexes articles from 1975 to the present in sports, physical fitness, sport science & recreation. The database includes ATLANTES, Catalogue du Musee Olympique, and HERACLES. This is not a full text database. There may be a few full articles that are linked to in the database. PsycINFO

Indexes the psychological literature from 1887 to the present.  For the most part this is not a full text database. There may be a few full articles that are linked to in the database. Indexes articles from 1971 to the present in business & economics. Many articles are available full text within the database. UNISTAR (Use to find books)

Search UNISTAR
UNISTAR Guide

Use UNISTAR, the Rod Library's online catalog, to identify and locate BOOKS and other resources about tourism owned by the Rod Library.  UNISTAR may be found under the Books & More tab on the Rod Library home page.  Rod Library uses the Library of Congress Subject Headings which group items by subject. Therefore, if you find one book on your topic there will be other books on the same topic located nearby on the shelves. Remember UNISTAR does not go down to the article level but you can use it to determine if Rod Library subscribes to a journal or magazine and where it is located.
