UNISTAR may be found under the Books & More tab on the Rod Library home page.  Rod Library uses the Library of Congress Subject Headings which group items by subject. Databases - (Use to find articles)

How Do I Find Articles?
Search Databases for Articles via Rod Library PantherProwler
Access E-Resources from Off-Campus

Information concerning topics in tourism can be found in a number of scholarly and popular journals and magazines. The following Rod Library databases are most useful in finding journal articles in this area. Many Rod Library electronic databases contain the full text to articles.  Select the desired index or abstract title from the Databases A-Z listing under Articles tab on the Rod Library home page.  The “  * ” symbol located next to the database name in the list below designates that the database contains at least some full text articles.

SPORT Discus
Rod Library Databases A-Z  page.
Indexes articles from 1975 to the present in sports, physical fitness, sport science & recreation.  The database includes ATLANTES, Catalogue du Musee Olympique, and HERACLES. This is not a full text database. There may be a few full articles that are linked to in the database, in these cases look for a FTXT field and click on the link. If there is no FTXT link, then click on the yellow "Find it" button located at the bottom of each record to determine if Rod Library has access to the article in electronic format, in print format, or if Rod Library has no access to the article.

Academic OneFile*
Rod Library Databases A-Z  page.
Academic OneFile is from the service provider InfoTrac. The database covers a wide range of subjects, including recreation and leisure services.  Many articles are available full text within the database. If the full text of the article is not in the the database, click on the yellow "Find it" button to determine if Rod Library has access to the article in electronic format, print format, or if Rod Library has no access to the article.

Business & Company Resource Center
This database indexes businesses and business articles related to the tourism industry.

Education Full Text*  (PowerPoint Tutorial)
Rod Library Databases A-Z page.
Indexes journal articles and documents in education from 1983 to the present.  Many full text articles are available online.

ERIC  (Flash Tutorial)(PowerPoint Tutorial)
Rod Library Databases A-Z  page.
Indexes journal articles and documents in education from 1966 to the present.  An alternate free access point for ERIC is from the U.S. Department of Education (http://www.eric.ed.gov/). Full text of recent ERIC Documents (ED items) are available. None of the ERIC Journal Articles (EJ items) are full text in ERIC but many of the articles can be found full text in the database Education Full Text. Click on the yellow "Find it" button located at the bottom of each record to determine if Rod Library has access to the article in electronic format, print format, or if Rod Library has no access to the article.

National Recreation Database (Leisure Information Network - Canada)

PsycINFO
Rod Library Databases A-Z  page.
Indexes the psychological literature form 1887 to the present.  For the most part this is not a full text database. There may be a few full articles that are linked to in the database, in these cases look for a FTXT field and click on the link. Click on the yellow "Find it" button located at the bottom of each record to determine if Rod Library has access to the article in electronic format, print format, or if Rod Library has no access to the article.

SciVerse ScienceDirect
Rod Library Databases A-Z page.
Access to over 1100 full text electronic Elsevier journals in the sciences and social sciences through this service provider. You can search MEDLINE/PubMed through this database by checking the Abstract Databases box located in the Sources field on the search screen. If you search MEDLINE/PubMed through the ScienceDirect database, complete titles of journals are given in the article citations unlike when you search MEDLINE/PubMed through the National Library of Medicine at <http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/PubMed/> which only provides abbreviations for journal titles.

Tourism Database (Michigan State University Extension)
The purpose of the database is to provide a comprehensive inventory of extension resource materials related to tourism education and to make this information conveniently available. Currently the database contains over 250 extension resource materials including bulletins, research reports, videos, and training programs. Nearly 100 documents are on-line in full text.

Web of Knowledge (ISI)
This database covers Web of Science, Biological Abstracts, MEDLINE and Zoological Records which all contain materials related to tourism.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: If the article you want is not available full text in a database, UNISTAR is the key for figuring out if UNI has access to the full text of the article in another database or in print. Many of the Library's databases have the yellow "Find it" button loaded into the database. You can click on the yellow "Find it" button where a search for the article is conducted determining if Rod Library has electronic access to the article in another database. If no electronic copies of the article are found, you can then click on the "Library Catalog (UNISTAR)" link to determine if Rod Library has access to the article in print format. If the link to the yellow "Find it" button does not work or if a database does not have the button, go directly into UNISTAR and conduct a title search for the journal name. Do not get confused and use the article title when searching UNISTAR. This will not work since UNISTAR does not go to the article level. Search UNISTAR using the journal name. If Rod Library does not have full text access to an article, you can request it through Rod Library's  Interlibrary Loan service.
