The Youth Collection, located on the 3rd floor of the Library, contains over 20,000 volumes of children's and young adult literature in print and nonprint formats, including books, periodicals, videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs, CDs, and audiocassettes. Some titles are available on UNISTAR as e-books. A reference collection features many recently published bibliographies and other professional sources intended for adult study in the field.

The Youth Collection includes picture books, full-length fiction, poetry, folklore, biographies, and concept/information books. Special sections highlight award-winning titles, pop-up/toy books, and bilingual/foreign language literature for children. A collection of historical children's literature in the adjoining lounge includes a special section on early 20th century boys' series books.

The Youth Collection is especially useful when preparing teaching lessons, curricular units, or other educational programs for K-12 schools.

The area is open during all library hours, and the staff is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
