ScienceDirect down for maintenance all day Saturday, March 17, 2012

ScienceDirect will be down for maintenance on Saturday, March 17 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Elsevier plans to install a number of upgrades, including increasing search speed and article rendering, as well as solving several problems with PDF downloading and RSS feeds.

ProQuest down Nov. 5-6 for maintenance

October 31, 2011

ProQuest® will be performing infrastructure maintenance on November 5, 2011. A twelve (12) hour maintenance window will be required for this maintenance. The window will take place from Saturday, November 5, 2011, at 21:00 CST to Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 9:00 CST.

This will include access to: 

  • any title accessed via the ProQuest platform, such as ABI/Inform, Dissertations & Theses @ UNI; Ethnic Newswatch; International Index to Music Periodicals full text; ProQuest Historical Newspapers, and more
  • Chadwyck-Healey products with domain names ending with "chadwyck.com"
  • Illumina products such as Technology Research Database, Illustrate: Natural Sciences, and Sociological Abstracts

Celebrate Banned Book week next week and read a banned book!

What do Chris Crutcher, Toni Morrison, John Steinbeck, Judy Blume, Philip Pulman, Mark Twain, J. K. Rowling, and J.D. Salinger have in common?

They all have the distinction of appearing on the list of "Most frequently challenged authors of the 21st century". The American Library Association and other organizations designate a week every year to celebrate the freedom to read.  Celebrate Banned Book week from September 25-October 2, 2010.
