New, More Powerful Searching for Articles and More

May 13, 2013

Rod Library is now offering a new and improved method to find the information you need for your class assignments and research. Just use the "Articles" tab on the library home page to access the new, more powerful version of Panther Prowler.

When you try it out, you should notice right away that the top results are even more relevant to your search than before. This single, quick search finds the best information from almost all of the library's electronic journals and databases, as well as from the library catalog of books, DVDs, CDs, and other physical items.

(We believe everyone will benefit from the new Panther Prowler, but for a limited time, you can still access the old version here.)

Lobby Wall Coming Down!

March 13, 2013
Lobby wall

Big changes are coming to the Rod Library lobby area over spring break.  The picture here shows the wood paneled wall separating the lobby from the Reference Collection shelves.  Say goodbye to the wall!

Beginning Monday March 18 contractors from Waterloo will be removing this wall and patching the carpeting and columns for us.  This work will open up our lobby area more than ever.  The lobby will still have soft seating with tables and be a place for people to sit and work together, talk, or read.  After spring semester ends the area will be recarpeted too.  Eventually new furniture will be purchased but not this fiscal year.

The computer stations behind the wall will be relocated to another place on this floor.

During the construction next week there will be noise and a bit of dust in the lobby area.

Have a great Spring Break!

Posting Advertisements, Announcements, and Collection Boxes in the Library

March 5, 2013

Rod Library offers limited space for the UNI community to post UNI-related advertisements, announcements, and collection boxes.  We have an enclosed glass display case in the lobby for posters and announcements and some space in the lobby for banners and collection boxes.  In addition we offer space in up to 50 of our six-sided plastic table displayers in lieu of paper table tents.

Those interested in requesting the placement of collection boxes, table ads, banners, posters, etc., must be a UNI sponsored student or departmental organization.  Please review our policy for advertisements and announcements located on our website.

Please direct your questions and requests to the Dean's Office (room 211, 273-2737).  Thanks!
