Light Fixture Upgrade Begins Tuesday

October 15, 2012

Beginning Tuesday, October 16, the Library's light fixtures on the first, second, and third floors will receive an upgrade.

As of July 14, 2012, the Department of Energy mandated the production of T12 lamps (bulbs) will be phased out.  The fixtures on the first three floors of the building use T12 lamps.  The project beginning Tuesday will replace the ballasts, bulbs, and light covers for all T12 fixtures in the building and replace them with T8 components.  At the end of the project the Library's lighting will be more consistent through the building and slightly brighter.

In order for this work to take place banks of lights will be turned off for periods of time during the day hours.  Your favorite study location may have dim lighting at some point.  Please see the friendly folks at the Circulation Desk if you need assistance locating a different location to study.

They will begin on the second floor on Tuesday.

Thanks for your patience!

Carpet Work Begins in Reference

May 18, 2012
Stained old carpeting

Beginning Monday morning, May 21, the computers in the five east/west rows of computer desks in the Electronic Resource Area on second floor will be unavailable in order to allow us to replace the carpeting under the desks.  We are excited about this project.  This area is one of the most used areas of the building, and the stained and worn carpeting shows how popular it is.

Electronic Resource Area

The computers in the rows running north and south behind the Reference Desk and the clusters of computers on all floors will still be available for use next week.  Please see the helpful folks at the Circulation Desk or the Reference Desk if you need help locating a computer to use for your research.

Thanks for your patience as we continue to improve our building!
