David D. Delafield, 83, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, December 26, 2003, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

He was born April 7, 1920, in East Aurora, New York, son of Edgar Trevor and Maude S. Stotts Delafield. He married Mary Perdue. He later married Marianna Cryberg, April 19, 1969, in Joy, Illinois.

Mr. Delafield received B. F. A., M. F. A., and Ph. D. degrees from Ohio State University in Columbus, taught at Washington State University in Pullman, and was a professor of art at the University of Northern Iowa from 1951 to 1983. He was also a World War II veteran of the US Army Air Corps.

Survived by: his wife; three sons, David Lee of Washington state, Phillip Magnus (Donita) of Des Moines, and David Magnus (Susan) of Fischers, Indiana; two daughters, Kathryn Jo (Garry) Delafield of Saipan, M. E., and Dianna Marie (William) Plantan of Rochester, Minnesota; fourteen grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a son; John Trevor; a daughter, Mary Carol Gilles; three brothers; and five sisters:

Memorial services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel, with private inurnment in Hillside Cemetery. DahlVan HoveSchoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Falls Lutheran Home endowment or the UNI Foundation for preservation of the permanent art collection in the Gallery of Art.
