Find Books
UNISTAR [17] - The UNI Rod Library Catalog - is used to locate the books, journals (but not articles), and sound and video recordings found in this library.
Google Book Search [18] - view portions of recent books online. Set search to "Limited preview and Full view"
OhioLink [19] and Mobius [20] - the shared catalogs of many libraries in Ohio and Missouri respectively, can be used to find books on water not owned by the Rod Library. These systems will often search the titles of book chapters. Use Interlibrary Loan via UNISTAR.

Killing the Aral Sea: Catastrophe by Design
(Films for the Humanities and Sciences)
"The Aral Sea must die, just as a soldier in battle!" So said a Soviet official during the 1930s when rivers feeding that immense inland sea were diverted to cultivate the surrounding desert. But in trading fisheries for fields of cotton and rice, the government doomed the region to ruin. In this program, Mukhtar Tairov and Boris Chaikin, former members of the Ministry of Fishery, and others assess the irrigation plan, its catastrophic effects on the area and those who live within it, the failed follow-up plan to refill the sea with water diverted from Siberia, and belated efforts to stabilize the northern of the two lakes--all that remain of a once-thriving body of water"--Container

Water for Tonoumassee
"During the long, dry season in the south of Togo, West Africa, a woman's day began at 1:00 am with an eight-hour trek for water. Unknown to her, the water so arduously collected was contaminated. Water for Tonoumasse shows the efforts of a group of villagers to get clean water by drilling a well nearby. It chronicles the success of this project in which the women played a key role. To the surprise of the village men, the women were capable of making decisions, handling money, and learning the mechanics of keeping a pump in working order."

There are over 10,000 Government Documents in the Rod Library dealing with water and hydrology!
To find these resources search UNISTAR [17] and limit Location to UNI-Documents.
Locate U.S.G.S. Publications
Search the USGS Library Catalog - [22]http://library.usgs.gov [22]
Visit - "How to Find USGS Publications Online" - an overview on locating resources from USGS. [23]
Try Google UncleSam - http://www.google.com/unclesam [7] --- use advanced search and set "Search within a site or domain" to particular agency - e.g. usgs.gov
Alternatively, limit Google searches to the specific agency web addresses using the "site" command.
e.g. The web address of the Environmental Protection Agency is http://www.epa.gov/ [24]
So to search documents on climate change within the EPA try the following Google Search:
"climate change" and site:epa.gov
... or search EPA for only those documents with climate change in the title of the document:
intitle:"climate change" and site:epa.gov
Maps and Atlases
The Rod Library has over 700 maps and atlases dealing with water and hydrology.
To find these resources search UNISTAR [25] and limit Location to UNI-MAP.
