How can these be identified?

Scholarly Articles

Appear in journals from universities or professional organizations.
Authors have established authority in the field in which they are writing. (affiliated with an institution, have advanced degrees in the area, etc.)
Have a bibliography of works consulted.
Based on original research or new applications of research done by others.
Most probably uses terms/language specific to that field of study.

Peer-Reviewed Articles

These are articles that have been examined by other scholars in the field about which the author is writing.
Many of the Rod Library databases have a limiting option you can choose to select only peer-reviewed articles.
