Panther Prowler My Space User Guide

My Space is a Panther Prowler feature that allows saving personal preferences within individual accounts. For example, it's possible to save citations within folders, create customized lists of databases for later searching, save search expressions, and customize the look of the pages. All of these can be done after logging on to your personal account, using your last name and UNI ID number.

Log In - From On Campus

  • Click on Journal and Magazine Articles (Panther Prowler) in the middle of the Rod Library home page
  • Click on a Field of Study such as Basic Resources
  • When the next Panther Prowler screen is retrieved, click on Log In in upper right corner
  • System may prompt you to choose a digital certificate. Choose OK
  • Enter the 9 digit university ID number (000######) found on your university ID card and click LOGIN

Log In - From Off Campus

  • Click this link to access Panther Prowler My Space accounts from off campus OR
  • Click the "Off Campus Access" link under Shortcuts on the left side of the Rod Library home page
    Scroll to the bottom of the screen for the Panther Prowler "My Space" Off Campus instructions
  • Click on the link given
  • It isn't necessary to use this link if you don't want to access your My Library account from off campus.

Creating Folders and Saving Results to Folders for Later Viewing (eShelf)

  • This video (2:09) illustrates the following steps:
  • After doing a search, click the Add To Basket to the right of citations you want to save to a folder
  • Log in using the method described above if you haven't already done so
  • Click My Space at the top of the page
  • Click the Advanced link on the right side of the page to move from Simple view
  • Click the New Folder icon on the left side of the screen to create, name, and save a folder
  • Click the Folder down arrow (on left side of screen) to select a folder.
  • On the right side of the screen, check the box next to citations to be moved to a folder
  • After desired citations are checked, click the Left Arrow icon to move the citations to the selected folder
  • Use the Simple view (Simple link on left of screen) to see citations in folders; use Advanced view to create folders and move citations
  • Use the X and Trashcan icons to delete citations and folders.

Creating Tailored Database Lists (My Databases)

  • Use Find Database or PowerSearch to identify databases you wish to add to your unique collection
  • Log in using the method described above if you haven't already done so
  • Click on Heart Icon to save the databases to your Clipboard (color will change to red)
  • Click on My Space
  • Click on My Databases
  • The databases you’ve saved should appear on the Clipboard
  • Click on the New Folder icon to create, name, and save a new set databases
  • Click on Save
  • Select the desired set on the left side of the screen
  • On the right side of the screen, click the Blue arrow to move a database to the set
  • Click QuickSearch in the upper left section of screen to verify your database set has been created.

Creating Tailored Search Term Lists to Save for Later Use (History)

  • Select desired database or database group and enter the search terms you wish to use on a regular basis in the future
  • Enter search terms and click Go to conduct search
  • Log in using the method described above if you haven't already done so
  • Click on PowerSearch and then on Previous Searches
  • Click on the Heart icon to save your search terms
  • The search will be saved under My Space History.

To search using saved search terms

  • Log in if you haven't already done so
  • Click on My Space
  • Click on History
  • Click on the desired search terms to run the search again

Preferences

  • Log in using the method described above if you haven't already done so
  • Click on My Space
  • Click Preferences
  • Change display of database list to Brief View if desired.
  • Change display of search results to Brief View or Full View if desired
  • Increase number of results per page from 10 to 20 or 30 if desired.

My e-Journals

  • This feature is not available at this time.

Log Out

  • Click Logout icon to log out of your personal account
