The Rod Library has several clusters of computers for public use. These clusters serve different purposes. Use of library owned computers is governed by the Acceptable Use Policy for Library Public Computers. First FloorThe Library Student Computer Center, which is managed by ITS, contains general purpose computers with word processing and other software. Outside of the Student Computer Center are six workstations, also managed by ITS. These are used for email and Web access. There are nine library research computers to the north of the Multi-Service Center desk and three near the elevators. Black and white laser printing from these computers is free and goes to printer 1A, which is located to the north of the Multi-Service Center desk near the main stairwell. Second FloorThe Electronic Resource Area consists of a group of research computers adjacent to the Reference Desk on the second floor. In this area, users are able to access the library's catalog (UNISTAR), and various types of electronic databases: e-books, e-journals, and electronic indexes and abstracts. The computers also provide access to the array of resources available through the World Wide Web and the Internet. Black and white laser printing from these computers is free and goes to printer 2A or 2B, which are adjacent to the Reference Desk. Third FloorThere are four research computers at the top of the main staircase and four near the elevators. The Art & Music Collection and the Youth Collection also have public computers. Black and white laser printing from these computers is free and goes to printer 3Y, which is outside of the Youth Collection offices. A scanner is available in the Art & Music Collection. Fourth FloorThere are three research computers near the top of the main staircase and three near the elevators. Black and white laser printing from these computers is free and goes to a printer in each cluster. |
