Biography

Leon Mosley was born in Amory, Mississippi, on March 1, 1946, but he has lived most of his life in Waterloo, Iowa.  When Leon Mosley was one year old, his family moved to Waterloo, where his father began work at Deere & Company.  Leon Mosley was elected to the Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors in 1990.

Papers

The Mosley Papers are grouped into five main categories: Republican Party, Campaign Materials, Deere and Company, Civic Work, and Board of Supervisors.

The first category, the Republican Party, is located in Box 1 and contains documents Mosley collected on party news and issues.  Campaign Materials, found in Box 2, is a collection of letters, campaign flyers, and invitations organized chronologically and then by candidate.  Boxes 3 and 4 contain newsletters, letters, minutes and other documents collected on the John Deere Waterloo Works.  Boxes 5 through 9, Civic Work, document Mosley's work in the community on various issues and boards from 1993 through 1997.  The types of documents included here are letters, meeting minutes, newsletters, invitations, general mailings, and brochures.  The final, and largest, group contains materials documenting Mosley's work on the Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors.  These papers, located in Boxes 10 through 17, contain budget and tax information, meeting minutes and agendas, and documents from offices such as Human Resource Services and Juvenile Detention Services.

A small number of the folders in this collection are restricted because of the nature of their contents.
