Collection Management and Special Services Department

The Collection Management and Special Services Department is responsible for selection of all materials added to the library’s collections, management and evaluation of the encumbrance and expenditure of the library materials budget, liaison with teaching faculty to monitor campus needs, preparation of reports on library resources and services, and pursuit of cooperative collection development projects with other state institutions of higher education. Typical student responsibilities within the Collection Management and Special Services Department include searching all incoming materials recommendations on UNISTAR, sorting and distributing information on materials available to the subject bibliographers, verifying and completing bibliographic information using print and electronic resources, typing order cards, and searching incoming gifts on UNISTAR and compiling lists of materials for donors. Although located separately throughout the Library with unique collections, the Fine and Performing Arts Collection, Special Collections and University Archives, and the Youth Collection are administratively part of the Collection Management and Special Services Department.
