It is a pleasure to have you working here at Rod Library. Your contributions ensure that we are able to provide the high quality information resources and services that our students and faculty expect. You ensure that they succeed in their learning and scholarship. In return, we hope that we can offer you a valuable learning experience, teaching you something new that will help you in your future career.

You follow in a long line of excellent student assistants who have made a difference in the lives of members of the UNI community. If, at any time, you have questions, concerns, or a friendly suggestion about the library, please feel free to contact me. In working together, we can make Rod Library an organization we can all be proud of.

We are pleased that you have joined the Rod Library team. The library recognizes that YOU are very important in assuring an efficient operation and in making the library a pleasant place to work. You may be surprised to learn how working here will not only benefit you with work experience, but will also teach you how to use the library effectively in your studies. Benefits of Working in the Library

There are a number of benefits from working as a student employee in the library.

Some of these benefits include:

Student Employee of the Month

It is the desire of the Student Employment Advisory Committee to recognize and reward an outstanding student employee each month during the fall and spring semesters. The award is intended to recognize a student employee who displays exemplary performance in areas of his/her employment: attitude, judgment in a particular situation, high level of service to patrons, etc. Staff, student assistants, and faculty as well as members of the public may make nominations for this recognition. Recipients are chosen by the Student Employment Advisory Committee from the nominations submitted.

The Student Employee of the Month will be recognized by a Certificate of Award, a congratulatory letter with a copy of the letter to be retained in the student's permanent file in the Student Employment Coordinator's office, and a gift. In addition to appearing on the Student Employment web page, a picture of the student assistant will be displayed the electronic display in the main lobby.
