December 2007 Student of the Month

dec2007courtney.jpgOur December student of the month is Courtney, of the Dean’s Office. Courtney works closely with the Library Web Coordinator on various web projects, such as designing new pages, fixing problems and creating graphics.  Recently, she created some new material type icons for UNISTAR.

Courtney is a junior from the Quad Cities and a graduate of North Scott High School.  She came to UNI as a Piano Composition and Theory major but switched to Computer Science with a minor in Graphic Communications last year.  Nevertheless, Courtney has not forgotten her musical roots. She continues to sing with UNI Jazz 2 and is a local “Karaoke Queen”.  She recently became the semi-finals karaoke champ at Beck’s with her screamin’ rendition of Journey’s “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)”. On December 7th, she competes for a trip to the regionals and a $200 prize.  Rock on, Courtney!

Courtney’s other hobbies include knitting scarves and caring for her 3 month old kitten, Morrison.  She has a very supportive family.

After graduation, Courtney would like to have a fun and interesting job in web development, possibly on the West Coast. And no doubt, she will continue to share her singing talent at karoke  events across the country.

Congratulations Courtney for being chosen student of the month!
