December 2010 Student of the Month

Julie December 2010 Student of the Month

Julie was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa. She graduated from Dubuque Senior, as did her brother. Her brother is now a student at Iowa State.

Julie will complete three years of employment in Special Collections/Archives at the end of the spring 2011 semester. She will be student teaching somewhere in Northeast Iowa during the fall. Julie is majoring in elementary education with a minor in basic science. Her goal is to be a first grade teacher. She will be a wonderful teacher.

Her hobbies include traveling. She has been in Camp Adventure since her freshman year and has worked with the children of servicemen and women in Beijing, Germany, and Korea. She will be spending time in Nicaragua this summer. She would like to visit Africa and South America in the future.

In addition to traveling, Julie enjoys baking, science, and outdoor activities. She also has ten horses; housed in Dubuque County. The students and staff of Special Collections can attest to Julie’s skills in baking. We are happy that she shares her skills with us.

Julie has been a joy to work with during her stay with us. She is a positive young lady. Her work is always completed in a timely and competent manner. She will be a success in life. We will miss Julie’s smile, positive attitude, and work ethic. We wish her happiness, good health, and an enjoyable career in education.
