February 2008 Student of the Month
Our Student of the Month for February is Whitney. Whitney is a Building Monitor in the Access Services Department. She has worked here for two years, beginning in the MSC area and soon doubling at Circ. Due to her excellent work ethic and professional manner, she was quickly promoted to Building Monitor.
A senior from Shell Rock, Whitney will graduate from UNI in May with a degree in Communicative Disorders. She loves working in the library and wouldn’t mind catching on here on a more permanent basis should the opportunity present itself.
In her spare time, Whitney enjoys hanging out with family and friends, reading, watching TV, and going to movies. Her literary and cinematic tastes are eclectic, ranging from David Sedaris to John Waters. She’s a big fan of director Tim Burton’s work, including, of course, his latest, Sweeney Todd. However, one of her favorite films is the non-Burtonian Silence of the Lambs—so maybe we’d better get her that library job! She’s discovered that there are few situations in life for which a suitable quote from Anthony Hopkins cannot be found and wittily applied. Quid pro quo, indeed!
Congratulations, Whitney, for your well-deserved recognition as Student of the Month!
