October 2006 Student of the Month

oct2006sarab.jpgSara is the October Student of the Month. As part of the nomination, her supervisor emphasized Sara’s upbeat, always positive, can-do attitude. Despite a recently fractured big toe, Sara has maintained her busy fall schedule. Sara is a Social Work major who is on track to graduate in August 2007. She was hired in the Technical Services Department in February 2006. Sara spends much of her time processing new books so they are ready for shelving. She is also involved in the new digitization project and spends part of her time at the scanning workstation.

Sara’s hometown is Dubuque, which she especially enjoys for the fall colors and the river walk. She transferred to UNI from Northeast Iowa Community College in Peosta. Away from school and work, Sara likes to watch movies and spend time with friends and family.

After graduation, Sara hopes for a social work position involving geriatrics or child welfare. Sara says she enjoys working in the library. She cites her friendly co-coworkers as one of the reasons she likes coming to work. Thanks for all of your hard work, Sara, and congratulations on being named Student of the Month!
