Upon request, Rod Library provides space to the campus community for the posting of UNI related advertisements and announcements and the collection of charitable or other items. Those requesting the placement of collection boxes, table tents, banners, posters, etc., must be a UNI sponsored student or departmental organization. All items must have a professional, attractive appearance. Requests must be made and scheduled through the Access Services Department (319-273-2838). Those needing a table to display materials should contact Maucker Union; the Library does not provide table display space. The posting of announcements and advertisements on doors, walls, or glass is prohibited; such items will be removed and disposed of.
Groups may request that posters and other announcements be posted in the glass case in the vestibule of the Library. Items posted may include UNI sponsored events on campus, or occasionally off-campus, or UNI program or class information. Posters and announcements should be dropped off at the Circulation Desk near the east entrance.
Items which may not be posted include job ads from other UNI departments or off-campus employers, promotional materials for candidates for UNI, state, or national elections, religious ads or endorsements, private individual ads, and private business, commercial or industry ads.
2. Table Advertisements
Table tents may no longer be placed on any table in the building. The Library owns 50 six-sided table displayers in which space ma be reserved for no more than two weeks. The organization is responsible for inserting and removing their advertisements from the displayers. The inserts should be no more than 5” wide by 7” tall. Reservations may be made through the Access Services Department (319-273-2838). The name, phone number, and email address of a contact must be given upon scheduling of the tents.
3. Collection Drop Boxes
Placement of a drop box to collect books, clothing, etc., for a charitable or other organization may be requested as well. The length of time for the placement of the box and the location of the box will be determined upon discussion between the organization’s contact and the Access Services Department (319-273-2838). The organization will be responsible for maintaining the drop box, checking the box regularly and removing items from the box as needed. The name, phone number, and email address of a contact must be given upon scheduling of the drop boxes.
The Library has very little space available for banners. Requests for the hanging of banners in the Library are considered on a case by case basis. Approval for the hanging of a banner will be based on the length of time requested, the size of the banner, the method in which the banner must be hung, and other requests for the display of banners. Requests should be directed to the Access Services Department (273-2838). The name, phone number, and email address of a contact must be given upon scheduling of the banners.
