Services for Users With Disabilities

Rod Library is committed to providing equitable access to information resources to support the study and research needs of University of Northern Iowa students, faculty, staff, and the UNI community.  Library staff seeks to provide reasonable accommodation in making resources and services available to all members of the university community. Rod Library is committed to ensuring its Website is accessible to individuals with disabilities and providing assistive technology to enable users to search and use information resources.

Rod Library staff can assist you with:

  • searching OneSearch! for library resources;
  • retrieving materials from collections and UNI Stacks; and
  • using library equipment.

Library patrons who have disabilities are encouraged to go to any library service desk for assistance or contact the main Library Services desk by phone (319- 273-2838) for information on available services and access.  Individuals who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, or speech impaired may contact Rod Library by telephone through Relay Iowa (7-1-1 or 800-753-2942).

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all UNI-sponsored events.  If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in a program, please contact Susan Basye, Rod Library, at 319-273-2737 or susan.basye@uni.edu at least one week prior to the event.

Rod Library maintains ongoing cooperation and coordination with UNI Accessibility Services (319-273-2677) and Faculty/Staff Disability Services (319-273-6164) for the benefit of library users with disabilities

Information about accessibility services is found on the library’s website.
