CIEP and ESL Collection

This collection consists of resources for students and community members who are learning English as a Second Language (ESL) and those who are planning to become Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Language (TESOL).

Career Collection

Do you need information to help choose a major or career? Resume writing and job interviewing information?  Rod Library maintains a dedicated room with resources for career-matching, resume building, and job-seeking.  

CFPL@UNI Collection

The CFPL @ UNI Collection includes a selection of recently published works of fiction and non-fiction. It is a joint venture of the Cedar Falls Public Library and Rod Library. The Cedar Falls Public Library retains ownership of the collection.

Digital Collections

Rod Library maintains a wide variety of digitized documents for use by researchers, including UNI Archives, selected student papers, yearbooks, and maps.

Fine & Performing Arts Collection

The collection houses various print and non-print materials in art, design, music, and theatre. 

Government Documents and Maps

Rod Library is a Congressionally mandated federal repository, and houses publicly-available government documents and books from both the United States and State of Iowa. 

Microforms Collection

The Circulation desk administers the microfiche/microfilm collection and provides location assistance and help using the microform machines.  All microforms are stored in a set of metal cabinets located in the northeast corner of the first floor.

Newspapers

The library subscribes to about 13 print newspapers including papers from selected Iowa and U.S. cities, as well as some international newspapers.

Reference, Indexes & Abstracts

The Indexes & Abstracts Collection contains printed sources that list articles in journals, magazines, and newspapers. In UNISTAR, materials in the Indexes & Abstracts Collection are indicated with the location of UNI Index/Abstract.  This collection is located on the first floor of the library, at the end of the Bound Periodicals area.  The collection is non-circulating. 

Special Collections & University Archives

The Rod Library Special Collections and University Archives Division collects, preserves, and provides access to rare, valuable, and delicate collections of books, manuscripts, and institutional records.

Video Collection

Videotapes and DVDs are found in four different locations in the building. 

Youth Collection

The Youth Collection, designed for adult study of children's and young adult literature, contains more than 20,000 trade books, related reference sources, and a growing number of materials in electronic formats.
