Collection Management and Special Services

The Collection Management & Special Services Department is responsible for selection of all materials added to the library’s collections, management and evaluation of the encumbrance and expenditure of the library materials budget, liaison with teaching faculty to monitor campus needs, preparation of reports on library resources and services, and pursuit of cooperative collection development projects with other state institutions of higher education.

The Dean's Office provides administrative, fiscal, and cross-departmental support to the various library departments, under the direction of the Dean of Library Services.

Library Information Technologies Icon

Library Information Technologies

Library Information Technologies is responsible for maintaining and enhancing library technology infrastructure, supporting public access to library electronic resources, providing direct technical assistance to library personnel, communicating with library personnel and patrons about technology changes, and planning for and evaluating emerging technologies.

Reference and Instructional Services Icon

Reference and Instructional Services

The Reference and Instructional Services Department is responsible for assisting library users with research and information needs, assisting users with electronic resources, providing instruction in the use of library resources, developing reference and other collections, and helping develop and maintain electronic and other information needs.

Technical Services

The Technical Services Department is divided into three main sections; Acquisitions, Financial/Supplies, and Ordering/Cataloging. The Acquisitions Section acquires material in all formats and languages for locations throughout the Rod Library; processes all incoming and outgoing mail for the Library; maintains accurate records for the check-in and withdrawal of periodicals, newspapers and serials; claims titles not received; and prepares material for binding, including theses and dissertations.
