Policy
Collection Development Policy
The Rod Library is a depository for U.S. and Iowa government publications. This makes government information freely and readily accessible to the UNI community as well as to the public. Depository resources are meant to support the Library's mission to meet the study and research needs of the students, faculty, and staff of the University. Depository resources also are intended to serve the information interests of the public. The Rod Library provides access to print publications as well as government information available electronically. In providing access to, and maintaining, the depository collections, the Library complies with state and federal guidelines.
Federal Depository Library Program
The Library has been a selective Depository Library since 1946, and currently receives thirty-five percent of the materials available through the U.S. Government Printing Office as part of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP). This collection primarily intends to fulfill the information needs of the University community, and, secondarily, the information needs of persons of the Second U.S. Congressional District of Iowa.
State Depository Library Program
The Library has been a full depository for State of Iowa publications since 1979, and receives all publications distributed through the program.
